This blacked up Granny is my friend Janet Rowland. She is a member of our morris team Bourne Borderers. We are from South Lincolnshire, a small town called Bourne as it happens. We black up as a form of disguise, this was decided because, as tradition states, the people who originally started dancing in the beginning did this to stop their summer employers from finding out that they were begging.
