Dawn of digital

After years of devotion to my weird and wonderful collection of analogue cameras I've finally dragged myself kicking and screaming into the modern world. I've cracked and bought myself a digital SLR after much indecision. Of course being a camera geek it's compulsory that you spend at least four months reading endless reviews before making any kind of purchase. In the end I plumped for a Nikon D7000 to sit alongside my much loved old Nikon F3.

I'm still getting to grips with not having to wind the film on after each shot, but I had a little play with it last night and I'm enjoying it so far. Just for fun I thought I'd have a quick go at animating the Mexican skull above. Clearly lighting isn't one of my strengths, and with the benefit of hindsight I should have turned the TV off first as well but not to worry. It was really good fun mucking about with something a bit different that would have been a bit more of a faff using film.

It's a whole brave new world out there of memory cards, video, RAW files and all kinds of new-fangled technology. I'm not quite sure I'm ready for it yet, but I guess even a stubborn fucker like myself has to give it a go...
