But Beautiful
I just finished reading Geoff Dyer's "But Beautiful" on the way into work this morning. It's a superb, semi-fictionalised, selective history of jazz. You needn't know or care much about jazz to appreciate the quality of Geoff Dyer's writing and his imaginative scope. It's hard to describe if you're rubbish at writing like me, but if you like your fact to read more like fiction then it's an astonishingly good read.
I'd already read his great photography book "The Ongoing Moment" last year and enjoyed that massively. Despite being obsessed with photography, I probably enjoyed "But Beautiful" even more. Fascinating as many photographers are, there aren't many whose lives have been as interesting as the legendary jazz musicians.

Cartonography... by Sea Moon
Superb lighting and subject matter. I'm a sucker for photos that turn everyday objects into something extraordinary.
there must be a way out by Doinix
You can't go wrong with a nice diptych, it's one of the reasons I like half-frame cameras so much.
Park Bench by Mr Birch
If it wasn't for the title, I'd have been puzzling over this one for ages. It's very impressive how he's managed to create a feeling of scale and a sort of sci-fi look and feel.
